Marketing Mislead - Natural Products Aren't Really Natural?
Posted on February 10 2021
Natural products are the big hype these days, but natural doesn’t always mean 100% natural.
A product can be considered natural as long as most of its ingredients are derived from natural ingredients. Still full of chemicals, we analyzed some “clean skin care” brands that are taking the natural community by storm, but the mislead that comes with it is scary, deceitful, and unfair to you as a consumer.
We analyzed the ingredients lists of 5 “natural” or “clean beauty” skin care brands and here is just a taste of what we found:
Potassium sorbate – a chemically created preservative
Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate – a chemically created version of Vitamin C
Retinol – a chemical that dries out the skin, causes irritation, and inflammation
Alumina – yes, this is technically “natural” but this version of aluminum is linked to cancer and is illegal in some countries for its toxicity. Definitely not what we want on our or our family’s skin.
Propanediol – an ingredient found to be safe only when applied in small doses, but is actually classified as a skin irritant
Phenyl Trimethicone – a chemical derivative of silicone, this ingredient is generally considered as safe, but in some cases is known as an irritant. The purpose? Stop a product from foaming when shaken.
Cyclohexasiloxane – a chemical ingredient that is restricted in other countries due to its harmful effects on the environment.
The reason for these hidden ingredients is why Wildflower Beauty by Jessica was founded and built from scratch (just like our products are). After my 10-year battle with skin issues, I finally discovered chemicals were to blame and vowed to be part of the solution instead of the problem.

Our promise to you:
All of our products are 100% chemical free and formulated with clean living, clean beauty, and non-toxic in mind. We are proud to offer wholesome, chemical-free products that are safe for all, and completely removing chemicals from our products is one way that we do that.
We also strive to make this world a better place, so we use eco-friendly recyclable glass jars and bottles instead of plastic to hold our products.
In life, we take a pass on all things toxic and know that toxicity can never be good for you – at least not in the long run. We are so excited for you to join us on our truly natural journey of skin care.
[Due to COVID, we have temporarily paused or jar recycling program, but will be happy to announce when it is back up and running!]
